I was eager to try out our Microneedle Facial because I have some brown spots on my cheeks I've always wanted to get rid of.
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, works by poking the surface of your skin with tiny needles and can be used to treat acne scarring, hyper-pigmentation, fine lines and more. These micro-injuries cause the skin to produce collagen as it heals, and results in a younger, glowing more even skin tone.
My first question was, "Will it hurt?" and as a needle-phone, I was not totally reassured when they said it wouldn't. A numbing cream was applied and took about 20 minutes to work. By the time the procedure started, I was numb enough that it was actually relaxing!
Here's my "before" picture where you can see the spots.
This picture is after 24 hours. There is still a bit of redness from the treatment but overall, I feel my skin looks smoother and the spots are quite reduced.
Generally, a few treatments are recommended a month or so apart for maximum results, especially if you're dealing with deep acne scars or something more dramatic.
The procedure took less than an hour. After the numbing cream was applied there was a 20 minute wait for it to work, and then the actual microneedling took about 20 minutes.
Recovery time was no problem. I went out for lunch afterwards, although I did look a bit red and sunburned. If you were planning to do this for an event, I'd allow maybe 2 or so days to make sure the redness is totally gone, but of course a consultation with our aesthetician can help you decide what's best for you.
The microchannels created allow any serum or product to sink much deeper into your skin after the treatment, amplifying the results of those applications.
Maximum effects can take a few weeks because of the time your body needs to produce the collagen that this treatment stimulates.
I'll be going back for 2 more treatments over the the next couple of months, and I'll update you with the results!
